About Sullivan’s Island
Sullivan’s Island has a significant place in literary history. Edgar Allan Poe was stationed at Fort Moultrie on the island from 1827-1828, and the island’s landscape inspired his famous story, “The Gold-Bug.”
To get to the airport From Sullivan’s Island, take SC-703 (Ben Sawyer Blvd) to Mt. Pleasant, then follow I-526 W to Charleston International Airport (CHS). The drive takes approximately 25-30 minutes.
