About Isle of Palms
During the Civil War, the crew of the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley used Breach Inlet, between Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island, as their base before their historic and ultimately fatal mission to sink the USS Housatonic.
To get to the airport From Isle of Palms, take the Isle of Palms Connector (SC-517) to I-526 W. The drive to Charleston International Airport (CHS) is typically around 30-40 minutes.
