About Isle of Palms
Isle of Palms was the departure point for the CSS Hunley, the first submarine in history to sink an enemy vessel. After its successful mission during the Civil War, the Hunley and its crew were lost at sea just off the island.
To get to the airport From Isle of Palms, take the IOP Connector (SC-517) to I-526 W toward North Charleston/Airport. The drive to Charleston International Airport (CHS) is approximately 30–35 minutes.
